I am 15 and live on a farm and want an air rifle to go hunting rabbits, is it worth getting one?

Or will I get bored of it?I am 15 and live on a farm and want an air rifle to go hunting rabbits, is it worth getting one?
u have to be 21 to buy a gun. and the only ppl who can sell you one have to be licenced to do so.

i have guns in my shop, but im not allowed to sell them or even show them to customers. the manager is the only one who can do it.I am 15 and live on a farm and want an air rifle to go hunting rabbits, is it worth getting one?
Depending on the power level, pellet rifles are perfectly capable of taking rabbits with a headshot. The big difference between a pellet rifle and a firearm is that in general the range you can take rabbits at won't be as great. According to Dr. Beeman, rabbits take 5 ft-lbs of impact energy to kill.(1) Most hunting airguns deliver anywhere from 7 to 15 ft-lbs of m.e. which is enough to take rabbits to distances ranging from 20-50 yards with headshots. Most hunting airguns are accurate enough to kill rabbits out to 25-40 yards. Then there are the magnum pcp airguns... .22 and .25 caliber pcp airguns can generate anywhere from as little as 20 ft-lbs m.e. to as much as 80 ft-lbs m.e., with the average being around 40-60 ft-lbs of m.e. Those same magnum pcp airguns are accurate enough to hit rabbits at more than 50 yards. So its definitely possible to hunt rabbit with an airgun. (2)

Hunting rabbits with an airgun has a number of advantages. First the report is usually much less so the odds of a rabbit running out of range if you miss are less. Second, airgun ammunition doesn't has as much power and doesn't travel as far. As a result you can often shoot in areas where using a firearm would be difficult or impossible. Finally, depending on where you are in the world, air rifles may be the least regulated hunting tool available. (I'm thinking of people in the UK here, but this usually also applies to the few American states with restrictive gun laws which in general don't apply to airguns, though you still need to check your local laws.)

The questions you need to ask yourself are (1. is it legal to hunt rabbit with an air-rifle in my state? (In some states its legal. In some states it isn't, though there's no real explanation of the logic of why it isn't.) (2. Am I willing to give up some of the range that a rimfire rifle gives me to hunt rabbit with an airgun. If you answer yes to both these questions, then its worth getting an airgun for rabbit hunting and you should start looking at both the budget (sub-$100) hunting airguns and the mid-range ($100-$400) hunting airguns to find one you like. If you answer no to either of those questions, then look into finding a good .22 rimfire rifle or a shotgun for rabbit hunting.
air rifles are a great tool for the beginning shooter and no I still shoot one after over 30 years so you will not get bored with it. If you are going to shoot rabbits check with you local fish and game and be human don t take a shot that will not make a clean kill. A 22 or a 410 shot gun is a better gun for hunting rabbits. But the air rifle is good to learn to shoot Hope this helps have fun

PS take a Hunter Saftey course lots of good info for the young hunter
You're better off with a .22 or a .410 shot gun. You do need to realize that your parents are responsible for your firearm use age at your young age. I was 12 when I had my first .22. A Ruger 10/22. I still have it today. You should also be aware of your target and beyond. Those little .22 bullets can travel good mile and half. I live in Montana and we have lots of wide open country side. Unless Obama F***S that up to.
get a Ruger 10/22 if your parents will buy it for you. And you cant go out and start shooting all the rabbits you see. You have to get a license by your DNR and follow the rules and only take the amount of rabbits and other small game that is allowed. If you don't follow the rules they can take your gun away. Also you will need to take firearm education (at least in most states). I suggest going online on your states DNR website. Oh yea and there about the same price as a nice bb gun
yah i do it but its worth it but you have to get a good one because i got a cheap one that only shot like 600fps and i got bored but if you get a nice scope and 1000-1200feet per second its great but that can be like $200 idk how much you wana spend
yes, i recommend the benjamin 392/397 $150, or an rws 34 $200. both are built to last and if you ever do get tired of them, they hold there value well. if you like to hunt, you'll never get tired of them!
Its well worth getting a full power .22 air rifle for a spot of bunny bashing.

However I do suspect you will be bored within a few hours and you'll return to the comfort of your PS3.
If you eat what you kill, or are doing for pest control, then go for it. If you're doing it just to kill, then do us all a favour and jump infront of a train.
Is lots of fun...you can hunt all type of small games. Look into a GAMO air rifle...they are between $150 to $500. Air rifle is good start before your 1st rifle.
Yeah, it's totally worth it! Hunting never gets boring! My older brother and I used to hunt squirrels on our farm. One time, he shot this huge fox squirrel. It was awesome!

Good luck,

Hailey
At your age, you'd do better to ask your parents to get you a nice little twenty guage shotgun.
sure but get a semi auto air rifle
why not a real rifle?
You do realize that an air riffle is just another name for a bb gun? I think that you would enjoy it. It never gets boring hunting anything. Just get one. They aren't but like $30.
You should go find something else to do rather than killing defenseless animals.
