Is whale hunting a reasonable course of action to alleviate world hunger?

You could probably feed a whole country with a whale. Is whale hunting a reasonable course of action to alleviate world hunger?
Most whale hunting is done by countries with no hunger problem, such as Japan, Norway and Iceland. It is a luxury food, like caviar. There is no practical way to transport whale meat to the hungry regions of the world. Ethical issues aside, they are better off developing local food sources. Is whale hunting a reasonable course of action to alleviate world hunger?
No, whale hunt would not a be good way to alleviate world hunger because we are already dwindling our whale fisheries.. If we hunted them any more their populations would decrease very quickly and they would face extinction within a few years.. Also, Whales are not big enough to feed a whole country..
no, in fact you can't
No, because whales multiply extremely slowly and most whale species are already extinct or near extinction. also since whale meat is a delicacy in Japan most whale meat ends up being sent there because of the prices that it sells for. Also a whale will not feed a country in fact it is not a good food source since much of the whale isn't edible but was used in the past to create consumer products that most people no longer use. In the past it took multiple whales to supplement a small portion of the diet of just one small tribe of Indians near where I live now so it is unreasonable to think that humans could subsist purely on whale meat or its byproducts.
No. Humans are very wasteful, and probably always will be. I bet half of that whale would be thrown away. Also, sea creatures couldn't breed at the extent that we would be slaughtering them, so humans would gain another destruction point.
No, but guess what industry really did save the whales. Thats right the oil business with the discovery of Karosine made whale oil uneconomical. So next time you see a whale, thank your oil company.
Nope. Not enough whales left.
No, there aren't enough of them.

You want to stop world hunger.. here's a couple things that can do it.

1) Control population growth. Tricky isn't it? Stop having more babies than you can feed.. and they won't go hungry.

2) Everybody becomes a vegetarian. The amount of nutritional value from meat is FAR less than the nutritional value of what the animal consumed during it's life.
Whale hunting is not a reasonable course of action to alleviate world hunger.

First of all it'd be impossible to feed a whole country with a whale. That conception is simply ridiculous. Besides, eating whale is very unhealthy. If the idea is to help people overcome hunger in a healthy way, don't feed them whale. If you want to make them sick, feed them all the whale you want.

The U.S. alone produces enough food, meaning fruits and vegetables, to feed the entire world.

The most reasonable course of action would be to convince the greedy people who refuse to make this food available to those in need to spend money on transporting the food where it's needed.

Another reasonable solution is to make an individual change of diet and lifestyle. Eating meat, for example, uses up more precious natural resources than eating a vegetarian diet. It takes more land, water, etc to grow food to feed cattle and other animals people eat regularly than it is to grow food expressly for people.

Supermarkets throw away tons of food daily, because they'd rather make a buck on it than give it away to the needy. If the price of fresh produce isn't low enough for people to buy the produce, the produce will just sit there eventually going bad. But supermarkets, instead of lowering the price or just giving the produce away, prefer to keep the price up at the chance that someone will buy and make them a buck. And if no one buys, well, they just throw away the produce.

At restaurants it is a common practice of customers to order food and eat only half of the order, leaving the other half to waste. It's a rampant mentality of indifference, wastefulness, unawareness. Tons of food is wasted daily at restaurants. It's sad and sick.

Bottom line: There's no need to kill anything for food. What needs to happen is people must start strictly following the rule of neither polluting nor hurting neither themselves nor others, including the planet, of course.

When everybody follows this simple rule simultaneously, indefinitely and whole-heartedly, the world will see the end of hunger and many other miserable conditions. If everyone can practice love for themselves and others, if everyone can get that far and achieve that much all at once, not only will hunger be alliviated, we will be able to achieve many other wonderful things, because if we love ourselves and others, we can share and live together in harmony.

So, the question is: When will this happen? When will everyone start making a conscious change of lifestyle and mentality? Maybe soon. Maybe never. If people don't make the change soon, though, all the bad things of the present world are just going to get worse, faster and faster.
lets teach a hole country how 2 fish
absolutely NOT!!! Whales have been hunted to near extinction and bans were put on whale hunting, most countries with the exception of Japan honored the ban.

Whales are now making a comeback, but we should learn by our past mistakes.

No one source of food will alleviate world hunger because that one source will eventually become extinct. If all the people of the world would become vegetarians, that would be a step in the right direction.
No. Birth control is the answer.

There are simply too many people currently. There are not enough resources for the number of people on the planet. We have been outstripping the ability of virually all parts of nature for decades. In time, those resources are going to run low enough that today's hunger issues will be very minor in comparison. I may not see this during my lifetime but I fear what my children will experience.
No. Besides the fact that there are not enough whales to go around, I am told that whale meat tastes terrible.
No there simply aren't enough whales. I think we could start by hunting Vegetarians.
