And you know you're going to fall

Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar

Has given you the call

When she was just small

Let the beagle handle it. Sometimes the rabbit wins one. Chalk it up to preserving the smarter members of the species so you can hunt another day.

Most rabbits your dog jumps will make a large circle, at about a ';jog'; speed for the rabbit, and they'll stop every so often to listen and see how close the dog is that's tracking them. Eventually they'll circle back to the area where they were jumped, so find a ';high spot'; or spot with the ';clearest shooting lanes'; and wait silently for the rabbit to come back around for the shot. This is a time to enjoy the dog's baying, and their ability to track and trail, without pushing the rabbit so fast that he wants to get underground. Most rabbits, unless they're pushed too fast, will stay above ground. For those that don't - they've earned their escape.

Good Hunting.
not too much you can do now, but personally, you don't need a beagle for hunting rabbits, just walk around like normal and look around more, it's more challenging, but it's more rewarding when you can actually sneak up on them instead of having them running away from the beagle, i would see hunting with a beagle very annoying at times! they can't shut up!
He's gone. He'll be back though. Hit that same spot next time and be ready before he gets to his hole.
