When my kitty is in ';hunting'; mode, why does her tail hunch and wag side to side?

its excitement and wiggle butt it is to prepare to jump - i thinkWhen my kitty is in ';hunting'; mode, why does her tail hunch and wag side to side?
When cats are in hunting mode they tend to lie down, with their head moving to what they want to want to hunt. Some cats pounce when the prey is still, while others wait untilt he prey is close enough to them to be able to attack. They wiggle their butts for balance and leverage. Also so they can stick their back paws onto the ground so they can keep their grip. And cos it's plain cute. :]When my kitty is in ';hunting'; mode, why does her tail hunch and wag side to side?
The tail swishing is because she's excited and they wiggle their butt because they are making sure that their weight is evenly distributed on both hind legs. This gives them maximum push-off power just before they pounce.
You have answered your own question! Because she is in hunting mode!

Cats use their tails for many reasons - balance, measurement and emotional display.
She's excited! it's stress.
