THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Should I get a ground blind or a ladder stand for deer hunting?
if your on public land you have to go with a climbing stand because you cant (state game law) and dont want to (someone will steal your stuff) leave anything in the woods. a blind is ok but i like to be up off the ground where you can see something coming especially when bow huntingShould I get a ground blind or a ladder stand for deer hunting?
For bow hunting, either is useful, and both are legal.

A blind will hide you well and you will be able to freely draw without too much fear of detection.

A tree stand will allow you to see animals sooner and that will help you with drawing, but you can be detected drawing you bow in a stand.

I like a tree stand, but for cold conditions, a blind rocks. You can stay out of the wind, as well as move around an enjoy hot bevs, or eat, or simply relax without being detected. Nothing beats a good blind durring an all day hunt.

In a blind though, when you see deer in the woods, they are right there on top of you with little warning, so don't get too sleepy.

Hope this helps.
Yes, you can bowhunt on public land. That's about the only way I do.

Ground blind or ladder stand? Like many questions, the answer starts with ';it depends.';

First, scout the area you'll hunt. If there are no decent trees to put a stand, get a ground blind. If the land is flat and densely grown with grass and shrubs, you may not be able to see through it well, so a tree stand would be better.

Stand placement 101:

a. Topography: place a stand near but not on known travel routes, anything that naturally funnels deer into a smaller area, obstacles that cause animals wandering in from many directions to follow the same path (rock outcrops, edges between forest/field, ';inside corners'; where animals frequently like to access commercial food crops, creeks, long slash piles, etc). Also, best bet is on travel routes in-between bedding areas, food, and water, not necessarily at any one of these.

b. Wind: always stay downwind or crosswind to the likely travel path. Never be directly upwind of the area you'll watch.

c. Access: make sure your access route doesn't disturb the deer your hunting, either going in or coming back out. You don't want to leave a scent trail going through the area you'll watch. Some areas are only suited to hunting part of the day in order to not disturb anything while going in.

d. Scent control: Keep your clothes scent free, don't wash with aromatic soaps and shampoos. Smoking is a huge giveaway. So is garlic pizza. Getting animals close requies close attention to not smelling like anything.

e. Use natural camoflage: On public land you may or may not be able to leave a tree stand or groud blind in place (either legally, or to keep it from getting stolen). On private land you can often leave things in place for a long time and animals get used to them being there; not so on public land. So place your seat wisely. In a tree? Try to be nestled among a group of closely spaced trees with lots of branches at your height to break up your outline. Try not to be skylighted (same reason you shouldn't walk at the top of hillcrest, always just below itto keep from being silhouetted). Ground blind? Try to put it in or near other ground cover, whether in shrubs, or under overhanging tree boughs.
Yes, you can bowhunt on public land. You will need to check the rules on the land that you are hunting for hunting dates and seasons. I would also use a climbing stand. I recommend the Ole Man Vision. I would practice shooting my bow from the tree stand at and elevated position of 20 to 25 feet because it takes a little getting used to shoot from above! Always where a safety harness while in the stand.

If you feel safer in a ground blind or just would rather hunt off the ground I would by a Double Bull Dark Horse blind. They work great for bowhunting.

I would set up 20 yards from the trail(s). Preferably where two or three trails intersect! An outstanding location to find an intersection is where several ridges funnel into a wide hollow.

Another great strategy for late season bucks is to hunt a natural funnel such as a narrow strip of woods between two fields.

Good luck and shoot straight!!

Yes you can bow hunt on public land. It all depends on where you are hunting. Blinds are hard to bow hunt in unless you buy a great big one but that's going to cost a lot of money. I would recommend in buying a climbing tree stand. It would be lot easier shooting a deer from a stand. I would recommend on putting the stand about 15-20 yards off the trail. Make sure you are up about 15-20ft and have good cover that way you don't get busted.
If you get an elavated shot the shot is more affective when it goes into the deer. A stand is also better because the deer do not look up as much as they would on the ground. I prefer a stand. And yes you can bow hunt on public land but only during that season.

Tell me wat happens.
Bow hunting is legal on most public land, but before you go make sure it's legal at your chosen place.

I prefer tree stands because you get a better view, your scent is not as likely to spook deer, and I think it's easier to get a shot off without the deer seeing you.

Good luck!
A ground blind may be cheaper, but a stand is better quality as deer don't usually look upwards for predators, none of their main ones attack from above.

And, yes you can hunt on public land.
get the lightest climbing stand you can get, hunting on the ground isn`t a good idea during gun season on state land.
stand is waaaaay better, i think. yes you can bow hunt on public land but u have to be eligable and have a tag.
