Why do people try to ban hunting?

So i just saw some add to try and ban hunting and all that why do people hate it. I mean withouth hunters land would be barren cause of overpopulation, and the animal would starve to death because of no food. I mean look what happened when they banned bear hunting in new jersey. So why do people have a problem with it? I can also understand someone who has to poach an animal to feed his family im fine with that. Why do people try to ban hunting?
Because they're either tree huggers or crazy peta people. Both are hippies that cry about everything. Why do people try to ban hunting?
Those that advocate the banning of hunting are largely ignorant of the part that hunters play in culling the populations of some species. They probably believe that hunting depopulates a species, and 150 years ago, they were right - unrestricted hunting caused the extinction of several species, and the near-extinction of many more. However, today, with regulations in place, hunting plays an important part in maintaining the health and viability of many species.

Others who want to ban hunting feel that way largely because they dislike guns and those who use them, regarding hunting as cruel and inhumane.
Because they mistakenly believe it is not needed or necessary in today's World.*.. '; Hunting is Fun and Enjoyable; Killing is neither Fun or Enjoyable.';... No True Hunter derives any pleasure or satisfaction from just the Killing of any Animal that they Hunt for and Harvest for Food and Sport*...'; Society will forever judge Hunters by their Compassion for the Animals that they Hunt for and Harvest for Food and Sport.';...
People in the city grew up with grocers on every corner and read how guns were so bad and all the killings from gangs by the media that they are afraid. They see hunters as barbaric Neanderthals combing the earth for blood. They never got to learn to hunt and shoot from a young age and the benefits of hunting. They all went to a liberal arts college to become a first class liberal.

They also forgot history and how man lived from the land and that animals were put here to be hunted by man and other animals.
I don't think people dislike hunting because they are against firearm ownership. The idea of shooting and killing an animal for sport is against their principles. Some of these people are vegetarians and don't consume any animal products. Others think 'why kill additional animals when food

is readily available in markets'?

Very few hunters are killing because they are hungry (which might justify the event). I am neither for or against - depends on the circumstances-

but I do believe some hunters take a subconscious sadistic delight in bringing down a beautiful, powerful and graceful animal, and this is abhorrent to me.

EDIT: I don't know why I am replying here - it's obvious that you just want people to agree with your opinion rather than take a look at other's viewpoints.
I don't have a huge problem with it, but the cocky hunters that have no respect to the animal they are killing I have a problem with. I watched a documentary where they were trying to conserve wolves in a specific region. They banned wolf hunting in that area, and collared some of the wolves with radio trackers. The next day a wolves head was hanging on a post with the radio collar. To me that is disrespectful. They kill all the wolves in that area and eventually won't have any to kill at all.

I also understand the reasons for hunting, it helps keep populations in check, which in turn keeps it safer for us and the animal. For example if Cougar hunting was banned, eventually there population might grow to large and have to many conflicts with humans. which will end up bad for the person and Cougar. However if hunting never began nature would naturally be able to control populations right?

I have nothing against hunters, some do it as a job to put food on the table, but sport hunters who do it to hang a head on the wall, brag about it and have no respect for the animal I don't care much for. In Africa the money made from hunting actually pays to keep sanctuaries and national parks running as well as anti-poaching groups. Without anti-poaching groups more animals would be killed by poachers.

I am saying this from a zoological perspective, as I am a zoology student. I hate poachers, have no problems with hunters. We are smart enough nowadays that if a animal is threatened then we stop hunting it.
Well, when I opposed hunting, you accused me of being against gun ownership. You accused me of stereotyping.

Well, you were stereotyping -- because I am not against gun ownership.

I think guns should be used for self-defense. Not for shooting defenseless deer in the gutts, then have them run off and take 30 minutes or more to die a slow, agonizing death.

People have a right to be opposed to hunting. Free-speech rights are not supposed to be withheld from people who don't agree that it's OK for you to shoot animals.

I thought you hunters were big Bill of Rights guys. Well, why do you seem to think that people like me are somehow not entitled to our opinions that hunting is wrong?

.
There Are people in the world that just don't like the idea of us humans taking an animals life, They also believe that we should just leave em alone and die naturally. But Hunting should never be banned because if it was it would cause an overpopulation of animals and (think about about how many car accidents there would be do to deer on the road?)
mostly because they feel it is cruel and or not needed anymore. though for most game animals it may be painful but they do not have the same cognitive thoughts as humans and hunters make the effort to keep suffering to a minimum so that argument against hunting is debunked. and the not needed part isn't true because game animal numbers will get out of hand without human intervention for the fact that there are not enough natural predators to take care of the balance that occured for thousands and thousands of years.
Nothing wrong with hunting for food, but hunting for sport is kind of sick.

I suppose it serves a purpose, preventing overpopulation like you pointed out,but I don't understand the sport of hiding behind a tree or

in the brush, shooting an unsuspecting animal from a hundred feet away.
Ban Hunting?

Most of the people behind banning hunting are actually anti Second Amendment....

They try to influence the minds of our youth that hunting is bad and should be banned....

But in reality the real agenda these people have is to ban ownership of firearms... they are intellectually dishonest and there ranks are filled with liberals, socialist, marxists and communists....
They follow ';the crowd';. They let other people make their minds for them.

They don't do their research before they make up their minds.

Added--

13th Floor obviously has NO clue what she is talking about. Anti-hunting has NOTHING to do with firearm ownership.

Firearms and bows/arrows are used to harvest animals and all of us here hunt for food to provide good food for us and our families.

I support farmers 100% weather they are livestock farmers or crop farmers, but with some of the growth hormones which is used in some farming operations, it isn't the best thing for us to consume.
Because they are uneducated when it comes to the facts about hunting. They believe that raising animals in a small, dark, and damp cage while injecting them with hormones and other unnatural chemicals before slaughtering them is somehow more humane then giving them a chance to live, (because not all hunts are successful) and putting a bullet in them that results in a fairly quick and less painful death.
because some people(most are younger people) believe that people don't need to eat meat to survive and can eat tofu and nuts instead of meat.

which is wrong, how do you think the human brain developed from the intelligence of a chimp to the complex mind of the human?

from feeding on large amounts of meat over thousands of years and we eventually evolved into what we are today.

I will never totally understand them, but their actually causing my local community to lose money, eastern canadian snow crab fishermen are losing money because these ';people'; are boycotting and refusing to eat our crab because of newfoundland's seal hunt, which we aren't even involved with, WTF?
Well, PETA has a problem with it for obvious reasons. Some people don't like the poachers and they think we're driving species to extinction (when the main cause is habitat loss). Then there are people who don't want hunters on their land. Or they are just *******.
I don't have the answer to that grasshoppa.. Perhaps you could pose your question on the ANTI HUNTING section of Y/A. Just like they post their nonsense on ours. p.s. It isn't poaching if it is truly survival, at least I wouldn't call it that.
Because people don't understand how the world works haha. Everybody thinks that things should be done their way and no way else.
Yeah, Metropol and a few other posters have hit the X-ring. The hunt-banners are the shock troops of the gun-ban movement.
Because they are ignorant.
because they are liberal anti second amendment jackasses
-Because they feel ';targeted'; by the NRA ! :)
