PETA and other animal rights groups have been after the hunting establishment for years. I took a look at PETA's website and it took me about 5 seconds to find their fact sheet on why hunting is bad:

The question is what differentiates what Vick did versus Joe Nobody with this 12 gauge?





The answer is pain and humanity.





Hunters screw up. That is inevitable. There are animals that are going to be wounded and be in pain. However, a vast majority of game animals I have hunted and seen shot die a quick death.





Vicks dog fighting ring promotes the slow torturous death of some fine animals. Pit Bulls are a great breed (I trust my life and my kids life with my pit bull mix without a seconds hesitation). The animals are not subjected to a quick shock, a short, intense amount of pain, and a quick death. They are subjected to a slow painful death in most instances.





Lets look at this in human terms. If you had to die, which method would you prefer:





1. To be shot through the heart and lungs by a high powered rifle?





2. To be killed by another human who is not allowed to use anything but their teeth while to struggle to get away





While I do not wish to get into the merits of hunting and if it is right or wrong, I do think it is plain to see that hunting is a much, much lesser evil than dog fighting.

If what you're hunting is gonna be food or clothing, no. If you're hunting for entertainment just to do it, I'd say an argument can be made.
Where do you live? Here in Montana there is NO chance of the deer becoming extinct, they are so over populated here that even after we kill thousands of them during hunting season and hundreds are run over by vehicles, many of them still starve to death in the winter because there is not enough food to feed them all.

2) dogfighting is cruel and vicious and a slow and painful death for dogs, when a deer is shot it usually dies right away or within a minute.


3) There is what we call a bag limit for deer, so they are not hunt to extinction


4) I don't even think it would be possible to hunt deers to extinction.


5) When hunters do hunt illegally, there are massive fines.


6) Killing a deer with a gun is probably more humane than what goes on in the slaughter houses for cows

Killing animals farther down the food chain is a completely natural process.. remember that idea called ';survival of the fittest';? Why would humans not qualifty to participate? We have to eat just like all other animals.
First deer just like dogs are not even remotely close to extinction. Second I have never hunted in my life so I don't have an agenda with my answer. Dog fighting in this sense is a form of gambling, people are winning and losing money just as the dogs are winning or losing their lives. The dogs are killing each other for the entertainment value so that money can be made. Hunters I'm pretty sure don't gather in masses and cheer as the Hunter shoots a deer then exchange money back and forth. Hunters hunt because that is what humans do instinctively that is natural. what isn't natural is watching dog after dog maul each other for entertainment. When I see you and Vick eating dog steaks from dogs you killed to eat I'll say maybe hunting is a little like dog fighting except us hunters have the guts to go into the woods with all the wild animals and bring something to eat back, while people who arrainge dog fights are cowards who get off on putting dogs in pits where they tear each other up while the cowards sit protected and up where the dogs can't bite them.


Go hunting where the bears and mountain lions can kill you if you make a mistake. Walk around alone in thick woods wondering which tree a predator 5 times the size of a pit bull might jump out of to bite your head off before you can even point your gun. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. PETA has for several years been attacking hunters and our traditions. Plus, Vick broke the law. Hunters that break the law are called POACHERS! Poachers are looked down on and shamed by real hunters more than by the gerneral public. Deer (not deers, learn to talk) will not go extinct from hunting. Deer is not an endangered species, and hunting laws are strictly controlled...you can only shoot them at certain times during the year, there's a limit on how many you can kill in a day, and you can only do it in designated hunting areas. Also, you are only allowed to shoot the bucks (males) and not the does. If you violate any of these laws, you are heavily fined and could even go to jail.





Also, hunted deer is actually USED to provide sustenance for people, and the skin can also be used to make rugs or sleeping bags, etc.





With the dogs, there is no useful purpose served from making them fight, other than to satisfy the sick urges of people who enjoy that type of stuff.
1st, come up with your own ideas and stop stealing them from wanna-b gang-banging NBA wash-ups.

Valid point, but not every one that hunts does it purely for sport, and doesn't wager thousands of dollars in money showers on the outcome. I used to bow hunt and used the deer meat and skin. Many state wildlife agencies issue hunting permits based on deer population and weather predictions, so the deer population doesn't starve itself due to lack of food in the wild. Owned dogs aren't in danger of starving, unless the owner abuses it.
